It was last year when Ab-Soul released “These Days…”, his third album with the song “Tree of Life” as one of the fan’s favorites. Such track was co-written with Curtiss King who happens to live in California as well. Soul and King shared more details about their collaborated efforts in bringing about of the 2014 track.
“Heaven isn’t too far away” was what Ab-Soul had to say about the track during his interview with HipHopDx’s Justin Hunte. This is a song about the love for weed and nature – living peacefully and relaxing.
King remembers that when Soul hits him up with a phone call, it’s almost always good news. One of these good news were when Soulo came up with a beat and Curtiss just happened to name it “Tree of Life.” He would describe their effort in making the song without much difficulty and simply falling into place as “just magic.”
Soul also noted fans will expect more collaborated work from him and Curtiss King in the future. The duo have been working together for quite some time now due to the fact that they are long time friends. In fact, King has been in all of Soul’s projects and they intend to continue doing so.
Included in the “These Days…” album were Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q and SZA. Said album was released last June 24, 2015. In the US Billboard 200 charts, the record made its debut at number 11 within the first week of its sale.
