Booty Call Movie Review

Booty Call Movie Review

Booty Call is one of my favorite movies of all time from before the 2000’s and even though you may be stunned of me saying this, I have to say that I have a weakness for these types of movies. It has everything that the title would make you picture you’d see in it and because it’s so predictable, it actually contributes, at least to me, to the fun factor. I just love the fact that this is one of those movies in which you’ll get to follow a couple through life’s challenges. In this production, the lovely couple consists of Rushon played by Tommy Davidson and Nikki, played by the beautiful Tamala Jones.

Now these 2 have a relationship that’s a bit over seven weeks and everything might be OK for one of them, for the other things should have gone in a completely new direction for some time now. Well, that person is of course, Rushon, because he wants to shake the bed with Nikki, but their relationship has only been platonic and he is not too sure if she really wants to change that.

So in order to make sure that their relationship will progress into the right direction, Rushon asks Nikki for a dinner, but she has an idea of where that could lead to and that is why she decides to bring her friend along. Lysterine (which is my favorite character) is played by Vivica A. Fox and she is that tart tongued friend who only manages to ruin a perfect date and make you not get what you aimed for in the beginning. Because Rushon needed to also find a date for Nikki’s friend, he calls his friend, Bunz who is played by Jamie Foxx. Soon after they meet, the 2 hit it off and for some unexplained reason, Nikki decides that it’s also time for them to do the same. I personally can’t imagine a better date than one where you’re home early and also not alone (arrghh).

However, because this is the nineties, they cannot have unprotected sex, so Bunz and Rushon need to get some condoms fast before the evening’s mood evaporates. From this point on wards, the movie gets funny and unwinds in a way that’ll make you laugh a lot. At least I know I laughed so hard I got a headache.

Peps Final Say

Booty Call is certainly a great reflection on how far all 4 actors (Tommy Davidson, Jamie Foxx, Vivica A. Fox and Tamala Jones) have come to date from this 90’s classic. The movie is practically packed with laughter from the off set until the closing scene’s of the movie. Among the great line up of stars It did put a smile on my face to see the late great Bernie Mac in this film providing the usually laughter. I do recommend this film to people who really wanna have a great laugh. Watch the trailer below and feel free to drop a comment about your thoughts of the film.
