Bret Easton Ellis, author of “American Psycho” has been asked by Kanye West to write a film the two could collaborate on. Although he was hesitant at first to accept the project, listening to West’s album pushed him to sign up for the project.
In this interview with Vice, he was asked, “Can you tell me about the Kanye film collaboration?”
The author replied, “You know what, I can’t. It’s in Kanye-land and that’s subject to a whole other timeframe. He came and asked me to write the film. I didn’t want to at first. Then I listened to Yeezus. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He’d given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I’m right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So fuck it, I said yes. And that’s how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We’ll see what happens.”
“I really like him as a person. I know he comes off in this performance art way in the press, but if you’re just alone with him in a room talking for three hours, it’s kind of mind-blowing,” he added.
Peps Final Say
Will be interesting to see what can come from a Kanye West based movie. I guess this is the opportunity that Kanye has been ranting about in some of his media outburst and this will now give the world another opportunity to see what Kanye is made of in the entertainment industry. His music ability and talent is unquestionable and according to many the way in which he has written his Yeesuz Tour stage performance are remarkable.
