One of Jamaica’s biggest Dancehall entertainer Adidja Palmer aka Vybz Kartel and three of his co-accused has been found guilty in the court of low for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. The news that Vybz Kartel, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John could potentially be looking at life in prison has sent shock-waves throughout the Dancehall community and has fans bitterly disappointed.

The closely watched murder trial has lasted for 65 days and has had the world talking and speculating throughout the duration. On the closing day the case was deliberated between an eleven-member jury which started at approx 3:45 p.m. It was reported that the jury deliberated for around 1 hour and 53 minutes before returning a 10-1 verdict in which they were sent back to reconsider due to the fact that the verdict was not unanimous and was reached under two hours.

After the Jury had further deliberated on the case they returned to the court room to return the following verdict

Adidja Palmer – GUILTY
Shawn Campbell – GUILTY
Kahira Jones – GUILTY
Shane Williams – Not GUILTY
Andre St John – GUILTY

The Crown represented by senior deputy director of public prosecutions, Jeremy Taylor, and Crown Counsel Leighton Morris alleged that on August 16, 2011 Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams was beaten to death over two firearms belonging to Vybz Kartel and the beating was alleged to have taken place at Vybz Kartel’s house at 7 Swallowfield Avenue, Havendale, St Andrew.

After the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams took place, weeks later Vybz Kartel was linked and charged with not one but two murder charges. He was later acquitted for the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton in July 2013 but still had the murder change of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams standing over his head.

After Vybz Kartel wand his Co-Accused was found guilty for the killing of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, Kartels representatives of has already stated that they will do all they can to ensure that any injustice towards Vybz Kartel will be rectified and aim to free the entertainer as soon as possible.

“We will not sit by and let this case of injustice score victory,” a rep for Vybz Kartel told local sources “We will be appealing the verdict given the many questionable police corruption in the case.”

Peps Final Say

Wow Gaza and Dancehall fans will be heavily disappointed with the Guilty Verdict in which Dancehall Superstar Vybz Kartel was found. Deep down I felt that Kartel would certainly be a free man this week and it seems that the trial took a turn towards the unexpected. As a Vybz Kartel fan it is difficult to believe that Kartel will not be back on the road for a longtime and it is also disappointing to know that his career and Dancehall could potentially be negatively impacted through this sad situation. Even though I would have been happy to see Kartel free at no point do I want to support the killing of a person and do send condolences to the family of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

If Kartel is 100% guilty and involved then I guess its unfortunate to say but justice has to take place and he will have to take responsibility for his actions but in saying that I do feel there is so much corruption in this world and people have been against Kartel for a longtime and many of them would want to see Vybz Kartel fail so there is more to what was read out as a verdict in my opinion. The truth is something which is always difficult to identify in these tragic circumstances and especially with all the twist and turns in this trial over the 65 days has led to so many grey areas and uncertainty. I just hope that Kartel is not facing life in prison as such a talented individual needs to be on road expressing their work through the music and inspiring others to achieve. Disregards all the negatives that surrounds Vybz Kartel no one can deny that he is a gifted and talented individual.

Apparently Vybz Kartel and his four co-accused will have to return to court on March 27 2014 for the sentencing and I am sure there are plenty more twist and turns to come. #FreeWorldBoss
